Assignment: You are to produce a guide to the United States for immigrants around the turn of the century. During class, be thinking about what life was like for these immigrants and any tips you might want to give them. You will be producing a brochure that must include:

Map – 10 points – Find or draw a map that would be useful for an immigrant at this time. (City streets, neighborhoods, travel, etc.)

TWO Pictures – 10 points each – You must have AT LEAST two pictures. These need to be your own drawings and not simply printed off the internet. Make sure they fit with the overall theme of your brochure.

TWO Testimonies – 10 points each – Write at least two quotes from the view of an immigrant. These could be advice or experiences from their time in the United States.

Written Information – 40 points – This section must be typed. Include information and tips for immigrants. You need to discuss 4 different topics (10 points each). Possible topics include: work, politics, home life, city life, health issues, popular culture, etc. If you can think of something else, run it by me first, but you should be able to do it.

Overall Design – 10 points – Use all of the space on your brochure. There is to be No Empty Space. Be colorful! Make it exciting!
