County Collage - 8th Grade

Objective: Each student is to create a collage to represent a county in South Carolina. The collage must be in the shape of the county. No student may do Charleston County.

Research: Each student is required to consider and take notes on the following elements before constructing a county collage. When research is complete, you should plan possible ways to represent this information through visual arts.

1. Economy

Current Unemployment Rates, Major Employers, Poverty Rates

2. Political

US Representative, State Senator, State Representative(s)

3. History

Founding Dates, Major Towns, Important Local, National, or State Histories

4. Cultural

Local tourist destinations, dining, entertainment

5. Current Events

Headlines from local newspapers.

Assessment: Students will be graded according to the following rubric.
