Welcome Back!

All Social Studies Classes - Finish writing assignment - What are you most looking forward to studying this semester?

Earth Science - No Homework

Students received this handout from me today. This is for all my social studies classes. It is optional for Earth Science.

Notebook Check: You will be required to keep up with all notes and assignments for my class in a notebook that you can turn in to me when I ask for it. You will need:

- ONE 3-ring binder – Half-inch or one-inch binders will work best. Do not bother with expensive ones with fabric covers and the like. You need to be able to hold all the work from my class, which conveniently fits inside a 3-ring binder.

- 5 tab dividers – These should be labeled: Notes, Homework, Classwork, Study Guide, Tests

- Loose notebook paper – Wide- or college-ruled are both acceptable.

**All of these items can be purchased together for less than $5.00 total at any store that sells school supplies. Feel free to talk to me if there is an issue with getting the materials.

You have one week to begin brining this binder to class. I will check for it. In the meantime, keep up with everything we write, read, or discuss.

Notebook Checks: I will take up your notebooks at test time and check to see if you have been doing the work. This means we may not be checking homework individually every day, but you are responsible for keeping the notebook up-to-date. We will be working on this together.

Trade-Off: You do not have to bring your textbook to school.

But, Mr. Evans, why do we still need a textbook? Use your textbook as a reference at home. If you have a question about what we’re studying, look in the textbook. You will also have the occasional homework assignment from the textbook.
